I had this funny dream involving my friend Kira in Rochester on Monday morning when I was snoozing between alarms. I went to Rochester for homecoming weekend, and I was supposed to meet up with her at “building B” in the dorms after I went swimming. She was telling me over the cell phone that I’d know how to find B since it was my dorm in college, except that I lived in Fish hall and don’t remember a building “B”. Now it gets even more random; I’m wandering around campus wearing a towel (with nothing underneath) and flip-flops, carrying a cell phone, while groups of kids and parents in semi-dress-up clothing are milling around in groups chatting amongst themselves. I feel, um, under dressed, but no one seems to notice much. I find a building labeled “B C D” and one that is “E F G”, and decided to sit at the wooden picnic table between them to call her. I’m fiddling with my phone, but it’s not the phone I currently own, but the same kind Myrna has that opens up to a bigger screen and keyboard for texting. Two female students sit at the other end of the table from me, across from each other. I recognize the one sitting on my side as Tia, the girl that was my “Little Sis” from Big Brothers Big Sisters last year, except that she’s now a student at RIT when she should be 12 in real life, and doesn’t recognize me. No names show up in my phone's address book, and I mumble swears under my breath at the thing. Tia leans over a bit, and offers, “Is that at new phone? ‘Cause sometimes that can happen with new phones.” I said, “No, that’s why I’m so pissed.” Then my alarm went off.
